Goat Meat

Goat meat is a nutrient dense and incredibly lean meat. It is low in saturated fat and cholesterol, making it an ideal option for anyone following a low fat diet. Goat meat is high in protein and a good source of iron. It also contains vitamin B12, vitamin B2, zinc, potassium and selenium.

Goat meat contains healthy fats called Omega-6 which have an anti-inflammatory role in the body. Omega-6 also helps to reduce blood cholesterol. Meat and milk from animals raised on a grass-fed diet has been shown to have an even more favourable profile of healthy fats, and to generally be lower in saturated fats.

Goat Milk

Goat’s milk is nutritionally closer to cow’s milk than other milk alternatives, and yet it has certain physical properties that impact on digestibility, setting it apart. Goat’s milk is naturally homogenised. This means it has smaller fat globules evenly distributed throughout the milk, aiding digestion and increasing protein absorption. Goat’s milk also has more digestible proteins than cow’s milk, and lower lactose levels too.

Many people who have difficulty digesting cow’s milk can tolerate goat’s milk without any issues, with symptoms such as eczema, asthma, bloating and constipation greatly reduced.

If that wasn’t enough, goat’s milk is also a good source of calcium, and contains more vitamin A, potassium and zinc than cow’s milk!

Goat Cheese

As it is made from goat’s milk, many people find they are able to digest goat’s cheese more easily than cheese made from cow’s milk. In addition to the benefits we have already mentioned, cheese is a naturally probiotic, fermented food, and can provide a live source of microbes to supplement our existing gut microbiome.

Skincare

Goat’s milk has been used in skincare and to treat skin-related ailments for thousands of years. This natural ingredient is not only gentle and nourishing but can soothe the symptoms of dry skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis.

Goat’s milk contains alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA’s) which exfoliate the skin by removing dead skin cells. Vitamin A and antioxidants can help to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
